World First USB 3.0 Host Controller Developed by NEC!

The very first USB 3.0 host controller has just announced by NEC Electronics, µPD720200. The new chip claimed by NEC will provide us a faster USB devices.
With the new device, USB 3.0 give us up to 5Gbps transfer speed. As information, USB 2.0 only provide us 500 Mbps. NEC said that it only takes 70 seconds to transfer 25GB of data into a Bluray disc. With the same condition, it will take 14 minutes on USB 2.0.
The USB 3.0 host controller also support USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. NEC plans to release the first batch of the chip on the next month with a price of $15. NEC aims to produce one million chips monthly by September.
